Take Out Boxes – A Must-Have for Restaurants

Take out boxes are a must-have item in the restaurant industry where customers want to either take a meal to go or to take their leftovers home. There are multiple types of take out boxes available for purchase. They come in a variety of sizes, shapes, styles and colors. Two of the most common take out boxes are oyster pails (more commonly referred to as Chinese take out boxes) and clamshell take out boxes.
Most people are familiar with the traditional Chinese take-out box. Constructed from wax or plastic coated paper material, these folded white boxes come in different sizes and are accompanied by a wire handle. Of course there are variations to this traditional Chinese takeout box. Many are microwaveable safe, some are recyclable, and others lack the wire handle.
Another popular type of take out box is the clamshell take out box. These are usually rectangular shaped and made from foam material. The larger clamshell take out boxes are divided into compartments to separate different types food. In addition, they feature a lock tab on the bottom to prevent food from spilling or leaking. The problem with foam food containers is that they are created from polystyrene foam which is not biodegradable, thus leaving a harmful effect on the environment. Some cities, most notably San Francisco, have banned the use of foam take-out boxes.
Luckily, take out boxes are becoming more eco-friendly. For example, some takeout boxes are made from material that is completely biodegradable and recyclable. Eco-Pak or Bio-Pak take-out boxes are examples of ones that leave minimal or no harmful effects on the environment.
Take out food containers can even be customized with a restaurant logo to add a personalized touch. Best of all, pattern-styled take out boxes can be used as gift boxes or as party favor containers to be filled with candies and other goodies. They are sure to be a hit among guests.
